final thoughts

I really enjoyed this class, this week flew by and honestly i don't even feel like I did any sort of real work worthy of 3 credits, however i did learn a great deal in one week and now that i know how to use this tool i will definately be putting these skills to use in making my portfolio and in future digital arts classes. I look forward to taking some other classes with you in the future.

design issues

WHAT IS THE DESIGN PROBLEM THAT I AM TRYING TO SOLVE WITH MY PROJECT?
My idea isn't so much about solving a problem through design, but rather extending the function of a current design; modifying/hacking an object (a guitar in my case) to perform something else which may or may not be practical or useful. I want to modify a guitar pedal to take the incoming frequencies of a guitar, and by assigning specific colors to specific tones it will output "visual music" on a large tv or something.


WHAT ARE SOME OF THE NUANCES TO THIS DESIGN? (special consideration, materials, process, effects of switching, etc)
From a practical standpoint it seems like this would be a pretty basic design, the only thing that really needs to be taken into consideration is the arrangement of the electrical and technical components in the pedal.

Who knows what kind of crap is in our water now-a-days, this prototype is an easy, portable, and replaceable tool for filtering your water anywhere.

Nature observation

Looking through the urban farm i found a couple of really intriguing plants. The first one was an artichoke plant, it had these huge spikey leaves with the artichokes sort of flowering at the tops which created this really interesting fractal design, the overall aesthetic of the plant was this really sharp/gothic feel. One design i thought of was to use the layering of the artichoke leaves as a document storage device; you could press a button to open all the leaves up and put your documents in the different layers then close it up. The other plant i found looked like a rhubarb or some kind of weird cabbage plant, it had this very intense waxy blood red main stem coming from the roots which then branched into red veins amongst the green leaves, I'm not sure what kind of design to make of it but i really like the intense red contrasting the green leaves, almost like there's blood running through the plant.
